Working at NSTR: Nele Iber on Challenges and Success in Her Role

What challenges does a career as an industrial mechanic entail? How does it feel to work in an innovative company like NSTR by LivEye? Nele Iber takes us on her journey - from her first impressions and daily work to personal successes and valuable tips for newcomers. Find out first-hand what makes the job as an industrial mechanic at NSTR so special.
1. Tell us a little about yourself. How did you end up at NSTR by LivEye?
I am 26 years old and a qualified industrial mechanic. I've already worked for various employers in my career. My partner, who works here as an IT specialist, told me a lot of positive things about the company - especially about the young team and the modern way of working. That motivated me to apply to NSTR. My current line manager also played a big role in my decision. I didn't know exactly what to expect, but I had a good feeling.
2. What were your first impressions of production?
It was a completely new experience for me. During my apprenticeship, I worked in a forge with huge machines. In comparison, the working atmosphere at NSTR is much more pleasant and less bureaucratic than in my previous job. Here I can organise my tasks largely independently and the team is very supportive.

3. Was there anything that particularly surprised you?
I was surprised that the production process of NSTR was not yet 100% mature when I started. At the same time, I thought it was great that my ideas and suggestions for improvement were listened to and sometimes even implemented. That's not something you can take for granted! I particularly like the fact that I can tackle a lot myself and work creatively. The working atmosphere is really great.
4. What does your working day look like?
My day starts with a cup of coffee. Then I unpack the required components and assemble them in a specific order. Our team then hands over the wired parts to the IT department. I then check the assembled components using a checklist. If material is missing, I prepare assemblies or carry out a mini-inventory to determine future requirements.
5. What makes a good team for you?
A strong team understands each other without many words and supports each other. You should not only get along well on a professional level, but also on a personal level. That's exactly what I experience at NSTR. The open dialogue with my colleagues and my line manager contributes to smooth collaboration.
6. Have there been any challenges that you have already overcome?
One of my biggest challenges was getting rid of my previous stomach ache before work. I no longer have this problem at NSTR. I can also talk openly about mistakes here without having to fear negative consequences. From a mechanical point of view, the work was easy for me as I was well trained.
7. What motivates you every day?
Definitely the NSTR product! There are always new challenges that I have to get to grips with. The variety and the opportunity to work creatively motivate me every day.
8. Do you have any tips for people starting out in production?
Yes, definitely: keep calm and don't be afraid to ask questions. Especially during onboarding, it's important to take your time and familiarise yourself with the processes. It also helps to approach colleagues openly - this makes it much easier to get started.
9. If you had to describe NSTR in three words, what would they be?
Innovative, future-orientated and unique!
